The extreme amount of rain on Wednesday washed out a section of the Chevy Chase Club’s stone wall that runs along Connecticut Avenue.
For safety reasons, the club (6100 Connecticut Ave.) has closed down a section of sidewalk where the wall came crumbling down.
Pedestrians won’t be able to pass between the club’s middle driveway entrance and the old trolley stop. Chevy Chase Village issued an alert about the situation on Thursday and said the club’s manager will let the Village know when the debris is cleaned up and the sidewalk reopened.
Much of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area got close to five inches of rain on Wednesday.
