A SUV reportedly carrying three teenagers crashed with a tree along Beach Drive in Bethesda on Thursday.
The accident happened at about 2 p.m. on Beach Drive between Cedar Lane and Connecticut Avenue. One passenger is in stable condition and being transported to a local hospital.
The driver and another passenger fled the scene after the crash, according to scanner reports.
Park Police are investigating the accident, which left skid marks in a muddy section of Rock Creek Park known for its walking trail. The car was traveling on the eastbound lane of the road.
The blue SUV in the accident sustained damage to its front, side and rear. It appears all the airbags in the vehicle deployed.
Beach Drive was reopened by 2:25 p.m.
