Company Bidding For Purple Line Has Ties To The Holocaust — A majority owner of one of the consortiums in the running for the Maryland Transit Administration’s Purple Line project was the target of a state law requiring firms disclose ties to the Holocaust. Paris-based Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Francais (SNCF) was paid to transport Jews and other prisoners to Nazi death camps during World War II, according to historians. The state law was created because SNCF, the government-owned French railway, made previous bids to operate other state rail systems. [Washington Post]
