Prosecutors Drop Georgetown Prep Gun Charge — Montgomery County prosecutors this week dropped a gun charge against a former Georgetown Prep employee who brought a Smith & Wesson revolver to his office with the intention of having work done to it after school. Police charged the man, 51-year-old Stephen Lafferty, with bringing a gun on to school grounds. But the law forbids guns at public schools, not private ones. State’s Attorney John McCarthy said the General Assembly should close the loophole, a move sure to raise the ire of gun rights advocates. [Washington Post]
Sidewalk Work In Parkside — Montgomery County expects to begin curb and sidewalk repairs this month in the Parkside subdivision of North Bethesda. The work will take about two weeks, weather permitting and will happen between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the week. There may be minor traffic delays due to temporary lane closures, parking restrictions and flaggers directing traffic through the work zone.
