Leggett May Veto Council Pay Raise — County Executive Isiah Leggett thinks the County Council-passed Council pay raise is too large and he might veto it. The pay raise approved by the Council on Oct. 22 would mean an increase in annual salary from $104,022 to a projected $136,258 by 2017. Council members quickly shot back, saying Leggett was threatening a veto for political purposes. Leggett voted for three Council pay raises as a member of the Council, but his spokesperson says those raises were smaller. The Council would likely override a veto with six votes. [Washington Post]
Churchill Upsets B-CC Girls Soccer — Churchill on Tuesday became the first Montgomery County team to knock Bethesda-Chevy Chase out of the girls soccer playoffs in six years. The Bulldogs won 2-0. B-CC won four straight state titles from 2008-2011 before losing in last year’s finals. Churchill will move on to face Whitman on Friday. [The Gazette]
Frick Questions Key Endorsement For Frosh — The Maryland and D.C. chapter of the AFL-CIO endorsed State Sen. Brian Frosh (D-Dist. 16) for attorney general over the weekend. But the spokesperson for Delegate Bill Frick (D-Dist. 16), who is also running for attorney general, said the endorsement was really a way to appease powerful State Senate President Mike Miller. Paladar Adds New Brunch Menu — The Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar in North Bethesda Market has added a new brunch menu that includes chipotle honey chicken, maple pulled park and fried eggs, scrambled eggs and chorizo tacos and bottomless mimosas.
