Police say the suspect who robbed a PNC Bank in Bethesda last week likely was involved in a second bank robbery in Gaithersburg on Friday, and it appears he wore the exact same clothes.

The robbery on Friday happened around 2:30 p.m. at the TD Bank at 15830 Shady Grove Rd. in Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County Police.

The robbery last week happened on Friday, Aug. 16 at the PNC Bank in Wildwood Shopping Center (10221 Old Georgetown Rd.) and involved just a black man in a long-sleeved red shirt, black tie, dark-rimmed glasses and a dark-colored fedora hat.

In Gaithersburg, police say the red-clad bank robber was accompanied by another suspect.

The first suspect, a black male wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and white baseball hat, passed a note to the teller demanding money. He got an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank. As he was leaving, police say the red-clad man walked into the bank, went up to the teller and passed a different note demanding money.

He got an undisclosed amount of cash, then left the bank.

After the Bethesda bank robbery, police said they believed the man also robbed Capitol One Banks in Silver Spring and Germantown. The suspect in those robberies did not wear a red dress shirt and fedora.

The man is described as 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall and between 35 and 45 years of age.

PNC Bank is still offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

The county is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and, or an indictment for these felony crimes.
