Montgomery County Police on Thursday arrested a group of suspects outside a White Flint office building where a recent string of burglaries has led to a spike in the crimes this year.
According to scanner traffic, police were called to the area of 11400 Rockville Pike around 4:45 p.m. after somebody in the building tipped them off to three suspicious individuals on the sixth floor of one of the buildings. The suspects were stopped in their car on Rockville Pike and held there until police could view security footage, blocking part of the southbound right lane. They were placed in police cars around 5:45 p.m.
Earlier this year, police arrested a D.C. man they said was responsible for a rash of office burglaries between January 28 and April 15, including burglaries at the 11200 Rockville Pike and 11140 Rockville Pike office buildings.
There were 46 reported commercial office burglaries though April in the 2nd District, which includes White Flint and downtown Bethesda, compared to 18 during the same stretch of time in 2012, according to police statistics.
Earlier this month, Capt. David Falcinelli, the 2nd District Commander, told a citizens advisory board that officers suspected the man they arrested in May had somebody else working with him.
