Caps try to halt two-game losing skid

WASHINGTON – The Capitals will try to end a two-game losing skid as they face the Islanders tonight on the back end of their “home and home” series at the Verizon Center.

Washington lost 3-2 in overtime Wednesday in Long Island, securing a point in the loss. Alex Ovechkin played in his 700th career NHL game, scored both of the Caps’ goals, which came on power plays, to give him 11 tally’s on the season.

Washington has 22 points, and is currently tied for third place in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference.

In 198 contests, the Capitals are 97-84-13-4 all-time against the Islanders, and dating back to 2008, the Caps are 8-3-1 at home against the Islanders.

The Penguins (204) and the New York Rangers(202) are the only other teams to face Washington in regular season action more often than the Islanders.
