Nationals hire Bob Miller as assistant GM

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals have hired Bob Miller as vice president and assistant general manager.

The club announced the move Monday.

The 50-year-old Miller spent the past nine seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.

Before that, he worked with Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo for seven years in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization.

Notes: The Nationals picked up RHP Eric Fornataro on waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals. The reliever had a 4.66 ERA in eight appearances in the majors last season. His career ERA in the minors is 3.90.
