Nats Park among the best for craft beers

WASHINGTON — The Nationals’ season may not start until Monday, but they’re among the league leaders in one category already.

The Daily Meal puts Nationals Park at No. 5 on its list of the best Major League stadiums for craft beer.

According to the site, the beer selection at Nats Park was already good, including such favorites as Dogfish Head 60 Minute and Flying Dog Snake Dog, but “they’d neglected to add any of the amazing locally-brewed beer.”

Nationals Park fixed that a few months into last season, adding selections from local entrants DC Brau, Mad Fox, 3 Stars and Port City. So no matter how the game goes, there’ll be something to enjoy at the park.

Ballpark beer has come a long way from the days when mass-market stuff such as Coors was the rule, the Daily Meal says — although Coors Field, in Denver, squeaks onto the list at No. 14 for offering alternatives to its namesake.

Camden Yards, in Baltimore, makes the list at No. 9, and Safeco Field, in Seattle, is No. 1, with the Daily Meal citing its extensive menu.
