WSox call up RHPs Bassitt, Surkamp for twinbill

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitchers Chris Bassitt and Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Charlotte for their split doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

Bassitt replaced right-handed pitcher Scott Carroll, who was optioned to the Triple-A affiliate after a 7-1 loss against the Tigers on Friday night. Bassitt had a 3-1 record and 1.56 ERA in six starts for Double-A Birmingham this season.

Surkamp will join the roster as the 26th man for the twinbill. In two stints with the White Sox this season, he posted a 1-0 record and 6.91 ERA in 23 relief appearances. He had a 4-5 record and 4.69 ERA in 18 games for Charlotte this season.
