Boy injured in high-speed ride wih reckless driver

WASHINGTON — A Severn boy was injured after a high-speed ride with a reckless driver in Glen Burnie, Maryland Saturday.

Twelve-year-old David Vance was riding with Gary Eldridge, his mother’s boyfriend. A trooper saw their car going about 100 miles per hour on I-97.

The trooper put on his lights but Eldridge didn’t stop the vehicle. He then drove off the highway, ran a red light, and hit a tree, injuring Vance.

Eldridge fled the scene on foot but was caught soon after the crash. Both he and Vance received minor injuries.
