Chef Voltaggio to open Family Meal in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) — Chef Bryan Voltaggio is expanding his regional mini-chain of diners with plans for a second restaurant in Baltimore.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/1yCLXUO ) reports Voltaggio plans to open a another location of his Frederick diner, Family Meal, on Baltimore’s Pier 4 by the end of the year.

Voltaggio says real estate doesn’t come up often on the waterfront. He says the potential for outdoor dining was particularly appealing. Renovations are expected to start at the property over the next six weeks.

Earlier this year, Voltaggio also announced he would be opening a Family Meal eatery in Ashburn, Virginia. A location is also in the works for Richmond, Virginia, early next year.

The chef plans to design some regional variations in the menus of the new restaurants.
