Man killed when car overturns, slides 150 feet

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County police say a man was killed when the car he was riding in rolled onto a guardrail and slid 150 feet on its roof.

It happened about 3:40 a.m. Thursday on East Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie. Police say a car driven by 18-year-old Edward Jefferson Hanvey II of Pasadena was speeding when it failed to negotiate a curve.

Officers say the car hit a curb and overturned onto a guardrail. Authorities say the car slid 150 feet on its roof along the guardrail before stopping.

Police say a passenger in Hanvey’s car, 23-year-old Jeffrey Brian Clary of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say Hanvey ran away, but was found a short time after the crash. Police say he was treated and released.
