1 teen dead, 2 injured in Montgomery County collision

WASHINGTON — One teen is dead, and another two teenagers are fighting for their lives after a crash in Montgomery County early Sunday morning.

The crash happened just off Hines Road in Olney, Maryland, at about 1:30 a.m. Police say a Chrysler 200 convertible driven by Austin Donovan Hall, 17, of Brookeville, crashed into a tree, then a light pole and telephone box at Macduff Avenue.

Shawn Gangloff, 15, of Olney, who was in the back seat at the time of the crash, succumbed to life-threatening injuries after being ejected from the car, according to police information.

He was a half mile away from his home, police said.

Hall and another passenger, 17-year-old Maxwell Dechter of Silver Spring, were trapped in the car and suffered serious injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
