Redevelopment in works for Annapolis theater site

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The owner of Eastport Plaza shopping center in Annapolis hopes to redevelop the site with new apartments and shops.

The Capital (http://bit.ly/1rmW8p5 ) reports the early plans call for a seven-story $45 million complex with 200 apartment units at the site of a former movie theater.

Dan Lederberg, general manager of L&L Investments LLC is working to redevelop the shopping center his grandfather built in 1961. The family has retained ownership of Eastport Plaza at the intersection of Bay Ridge and Chesapeake avenues. The center saw its movie theater close in 2004. It has also lost a longtime gas station, and a market and Thriftway.

Lederberg tried to bring grocery stores to the site. Now he’s turning to Baltimore developer Solstice Partners to take over the site with apartments.
