Vancouver teacher arrested on Maryland warrant

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Vancouver teacher and coach has been arrested on a warrant from Frederick, Maryland, accusing him of sexual misconduct in 1997 with a 13-year-old boy.

The Clark County sheriff’s office says Eric M. Estes was taken into custody Wednesday evening.

The Columbian reports (http://bit.ly/1ljSE5U ) the 41-year-old has not been accused of misconduct at Skyview High School where he teaches social studies and is the head baseball coach. He was placed on paid administrative leave May 30 after the Maryland allegations arose.

Estes coached Skyview to the Class 4A state baseball championship in 2013, the first state title in the program’s history. The Washington State Baseball Coaches association named Estes the Class 4A co-coach of the year.
