Md. transit officer shoots woman at rail station

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) — Police are investigating after a Maryland Transit Administration police officer shot and killed a woman at a light rail station in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel County police say the officer was called over to a bus shelter at the Cromwell light rail station Saturday evening for a disruptive woman. Investigators say the woman began assaulting the officer, choking the female officer and pulling her hair.

Witnesses tell police the officer could not break free. Several witnesses tried to intervene. The officer was able to remove her gun and fired one shot, striking the suspect in the upper leg area.

The suspect and the officer were taken to hospitals, and the suspect was pronounced dead.

Police identified the suspect Sunday at 38-year-old Angela Beatrice Randolph of no fixed address.
