UNC tops Maryland 13-7 at ACC tourney

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Will Myers’ tiebreaking RBI single started a six-run eighth inning that helped North Carolina beat Maryland 13-7 on Saturday at the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.

Skye Bolt finished with three hits and two RBIs for the seventh-seeded Tar Heels (34-25).

The sixth-seeded Terrapins (36-20) clinched a berth in Sunday’s league championship game earlier in the day when Miami beat Duke. Georgia Tech earned the other spot in the championship game.

Landon Lassiter, Bolt and Tyler Ramirez had consecutive run-scoring singles during the Tar Heels’ big eighth.

Michael Russell and Zach Daly each drove in two runs for North Carolina.

Kevin Martir’s two-run homer in the third pulled the Terrapins to 3-2, and Brandon Lowe’s run-scoring single capped Maryland’s five-run seventh and tied it at 7.
