Jury finds man guilty of Md. home invasion, sexual assault

WASHINGTON – A Montgomery County jury has found a man accused of home invasions and sexual assaults in two counties guilty.

John McCarthy, the Montgomery County state’s attorney, says Kevin Darnell Ray forced a housekeeper at gunpoint into a Bethesda, Md. home she had come to clean. The woman who lived there was home with her son. Both were tied up while the housekeeper was raped in a bathroom of the home in January 2012.

“He violently and in unspeakable ways assaulted this woman for a period of time, threatening her life,” McCarthy says.

Ray is also accused of home invasions and rapes occurring in 2012 in Prince George’s County.

Ray threatened the occupants of the homes he invaded, threatening to shoot not only the adults, but also the children present, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office in previous reports.

Ray is accused of a home invasion where a Wheaton woman dropped off a pie at a neighbor’s house with her baby. As she headed back to her home, she found her garage door wouldn’t open. She turned to find a masked Ray standing behind her.

Ray allegedly told the woman, “Don’t scream, don’t make a sound or I’ll shoot you and your baby.”

He locked her and her baby in a closet and took her car and credit cards.
