Virginia man accused of arranging sex with minor

WASHINGTON (AP) — A northern Virginia man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of driving across state lines for illicit sexual conduct with a minor.

Fifty-year-old Michael Angel Gutierrez of Lorton, Virginia pleaded guilty Monday and faces up to 30 years in prison at his sentencing Jan. 8.

Prosecutors say Gutierrez contacted an undercover FBI officer who had posted an ad on a social networking site in August. The officer was posing as the father of a young girl.

Prosecutors say that over several days, Gutierrez used emails, phone calls and text messages with the undercover officer to arrange a meeting with the girl. On Sept. 3, prosecutors say Gutierrez drove from his apartment to the District of Columbia to have sex with her. That’s when he was arrested.
