Warrant issued in threat over Israeli flag

POTOMAC, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County Police have issued a warrant for a former restaurant employee who they say made phone threats to the restaurant’s owner after he put up an Israeli flag.

Police say on Aug. 6, the owner of Benny’s Bar and Grill in Potomac hung up Israeli and American flags outside the restaurant. Officers say the next day, someone called his cellphone making threats to hurt the owner and anti-Semitic remarks.

Authorities say an investigation led them to identify a former worker as a suspect. Police this week issued a warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old Amber Denise Edmond of Beltsville. The warrant accuses Edmond of obstructing the free exercise of religious beliefs by threat of force and telephone misuse.

Police Edmonds is aware of the warrant.
