Blue Angels to perform at Naval Academy May 20-21

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The Blue Angels are returning to Annapolis after three years away and will perform for the U.S. Naval Academy’s commissioning week.

The academy announced Tuesday that the Navy’s flight demonstration squadron will fly a team of six jets over the Severn River on May 20 and May 21. The Blue Angels fly Navy F/A-18 Hornets, and their performance is free to the public.

The Blue Angels perform high-speed aerobatic and precision maneuvers. On May 20, they will perform circle and arrival maneuvers between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by a rehearsal of their flight demonstration between 2 and 4 p.m. On May 21, their performance begins at 2 p.m.

Viewing areas include Ingram Field and spots on the Naval Academy grounds.

This year’s pilots include three academy graduates.
