New weather records set Sunday in D.C. area

WASHINGTON – It definitely wasn’t looking a lot like Christmas Sunday, when once again temperature records were broken at two of three major airports and tied at another, reports the National Weather Service.

  • Reagan National Airport reached 72 degrees (which tied with the record set in 1889)
  • BWI-Marshall Airport hit 71 degrees (which broke the 1889 record of 70)
  • Dulles Airport reported 71 degrees (which broke the 1984 record of 67)

The D.C. area also broke weather records on Saturday at all three major airports.

At midnight, a Flood Watch goes into effect for most of the D.C. area. There could be periods of moderate to heavy rain between midnight and 2 p.m. Monday, with a potential for flooding.
