Report: Child services takes ex-D.C. mayor’s daughter

UPDATE: NBC Washington reports the child was returned to the family after briefly being in the custody of child services.

EARLIER STORY:

WASHINGTON – The daughter of former D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty reportedly was taken into custody by Child and Family Services.

Citing sources, NBC Washington says the 4-year-old was found alone in a bathroom Tuesday at the Upshur Recreation Center in Northwest. Police were called after a woman, who appeared to be drunk, tried to claim the child.

Sources tell NBC Washington the woman is Fenty’s sister-in-law. The station says it is not clear if the child remains in the custody of child services.

Fenty and his wife, Michelle, separated earlier this year. The couple also has two twin sons.
