Paychecks are falling nationwide

Nick Iannelli, wtop.com

WASHINGTON – Odds are you are not making as much money as you used to.

Workers seeing smaller paychecks is a nationwide trend, reports the the Washington Examiner.

From the third quarter of 2011 through the same period last year, average weekly wages feel across the country by about $10 each week.

There were some drastic drops locally, as well.

In Arlington County, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average employees saw a $57 weekly drop.

That was the steepest fall around the D.C. area.

Experts tell the Examiner that younger talent moving into the workforce is willing to accept lower salaries.

Unless demand grows for highly educated employees, wages may continue falling.
