Watch a local thief steal from a car (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – Police advise people to always lock the car and never leave valuables inside.

A local video shows this is good advice, even when the car is parked in the driveway.

The video was first posted on a local listserv, then Montgomery County police got a peek, and now officers want everyone to watch.

The footage captured by a home security camera shows four cars parked in a driveway in Chevy Chase, Md.

In the video, a man walks up to one of the cars, opens the door and looks up at the camera not once but twice before reaching inside.

Police think this person entered four cars in two different driveways either late on Dec. 30, 2012 or early on Dec. 31, 2012.

At least three of the cars were unlocked, and an electronic device was stolen from one of them.

Police say the incidents happened close to one another in the 8600 block of Village Park Place and the 3700 block of Village Park Drive.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any other information is asked to call the Montgomery County Police 2nd District Investigative Section at 301-657- 0112.
