WASHINGTON – As cold, snowy weather turned to rain Wednesday afternoon, firefighters in Prince George’s County battled a 2-alarm fire and rescued one person.
Firefighters were alerted to the fire around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 at 9133 Edmonston Terrace in Greenbelt. When they arrived, they were able to rescue a man from the 3rd floor of the rear of the apartment building. He wasn’t injured.
The fire brought out 50 firefighters and medics and took about 30 minutes to extinguish. A MayDay was declared by one firefighter when he was separated from his crew – but he was immediately located and wasn’t injured.
All 30 apartments, with 21 occupied, were displaced. Damage was estimated at $250,000.
