D.C. area gas prices continue to fall

WASHINGTON – Gas prices in the D.C. area are still dropping, but are still above where they were a year ago.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the D.C. area dropped seven cents in the last week to $3.46, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic’s weekly gas price survey. Inside the District, prices dropped 13 cents in the past week to $3.57

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the nation dropped four cents in the past week to $3.44.

AAA says the destruction of demand caused by Hurricane Sandy is one of the main reasons why prices dropped.

AAA says gas prices could drop to between $3.25 and $3.40 by Thanksgiving and to as low as $3.10 by the end of the year.
