Officer shoots pit bull that charged at child

WASHINGTON – A D.C. police officer shot a pit bull Thursday morning.

Police tell WTOP the pit bull had been running around a neighborhood in Southeast.

When the dog charged toward a child around 7 a.m., an officer shot it.

The dog survived and the child was not hurt.
