Pedestrian fatalities plague D.C. area

WASHINGTON – It was a deadly Saturday night in the D.C. area, with three pedestrians that were struck and killed in separate incidents.

A woman was struck by two vehicles and killed last night in the Langley Park area. Prince George’s County police say the woman was hit first by a tow truck and then by an older model black Toyota 4-door sedan when she stepped onto University Boulevard near Riggs Road around 8:40 p.m. The Toyota did not remain at the scene.

The second accident happened shortly after midnight. Three masked gunmen approached a car with four or five people standing around and one woman in the driver’s seat. The gunmen ordered everyone outside the car to lie down on ground. One of the victims laid in front of the car’s wheel.

The woman driving the vehicle was startled and drove over the man, who died. The suspects fled the scene. This incident happened on the 1200 block of Oates Street in Fairmount Heights.

In the District, a man is dead after being struck Sunday morning. It happened around midnight at New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road. Metropolitan Police say he was struck by some type of bus. The area was closed for several hours and the incident is under investigation.
