Berliner: Montgomery Co. should pay for bus rapid transit system

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner thinks the county should pay for its own bus rapid transit system.

During a meeting with reporters Monday, he said the county should seriously consider funding more than 160 miles of proposed bus rapid transit.

Berliner is frustrated with the wait for the proposed system to link the county’s big job centers, which include the Food and Drug Administration in White Oak and the tech corridor in Gaithersburg.

He says the should consider the project one phase at a time.

Berliner says he was not speaking on behalf of the entire council.
