WASHINGTON – Baseball returns to Nationals Park Tuesday for exhibition play, and so do water taxis that can get fans to and from the ballpark.

The owner of American River Taxi says he has just the thing for those who don’t like the crowds that trek to the park in cars and on Metro.

“We are creating a much more fun, less crowded and more scenic direct route to the baseball stadium, especially from the Georgetown waterfront, ” says Shaun Guevarra.

Round-trip tickets are $20 in advance, but American River Taxi also has discounts for those buying for multiple people or games.

The Potomac Riverboat Company also offers service to Nationals Park. The company runs baseball boats out of National Harbor in Maryland and from Alexandria in Virginia.

“It’s a quick way to travel and not have to worry about traffic, because the river doesn’t have really any traffic to speak of like we would see on our highways,” says owner Willem Polak.

Polak says the trip takes about 35 minutes. The company has round-trip tickets to the ballpark from Alexandria for $24, and offers free parking in Alexandria.

Both services deliver fans to Diamond Teague Park, and a dock that is a very short walk to Nationals Park.

“You’re right at first-base gate. It’s one of the closest docks to a baseball stadium,” says Guevarra.
