Will Ferrell makes Super Bowl ad for Neb. town, population 23K

WASHINGTON – North Platte, Neb. doesn’t get on the map much, until they got some personalized attention from a world-renowned comedian.

A Super Bowl commercial for Old Milwaukee beer was aired only for the sleepy Midwest town with a population of just over 24,000, according to the last Census. It features a casually dressed Will Ferrell walking determinedly through a field waist-deep in vegetation before sloppily opening a beer, and uttering the first syllables of the product before he’s cut off.

It was a classic move all around for the self-depreciating funnyman of “Saturday Night Live,” “Old School” and “Anchorman” fame.

The spot appears to have only been broadcast on Nebraska’s KNOP, DeadSpin.com reports. The site is soliciting feedback from Nebraskans to pinpoint exactly which regions saw the commercial.

Patriots running back Danny Woodhead is from North Platte originally, which may explain the nod from Ferrell.
