Metro looks at monthly passes

WASHINGTON – An idea for a new Metro fare card is almost like an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Metro Board Member Mary Hynes from Arlington County has proposed a monthly card for regular commuters. The pass would work off riders’ regular commuting route and the price based on distance.

Hynes says her proposal would allow riders to jump off, run some errands and continue on home without being charged twice.

“It makes something which is expensive now, less expensive,” she says.

Bottom line: Once you’ve calculated the price, you ride for free all month. And no pesky peak charges.
