3rd home invasion in one week have police searching for one suspect

WASHINGTON — A third home invasion in Maryland on Friday morning have police searching for a suspect and investigating whether the crimes are all related.

The latest in the string of incidents happened around 6:30 a.m. in Temple Hills when a woman on the 2500 block of Berkley Street was warming up her car and a man followed her back into her house.

The suspect pulled out a hand gun, sexually assaulted her and stole her car as well as a few items from her home.

Earlier in the week, similar home invasions occurred in Maryland on Tuesday and Wednesday, police say.

“The modus operandi is very similar,” says Prince George’s County police Cpl. Evan Baxter. “Just the following the person in, taking the car — things of that nature.”

Police later found the victim’s car — a 2008 Honda Civic — was found in Temple Hills.

Prince George’s police are now working with Montgomery County police to see if this is the same suspect.
