Hollins eager for shot to coach the Nets

NEW YORK (AP) — Lionel Hollins says he has no interest in doing anything more with the Brooklyn Nets than be their coach.

In direct contrast to the man he is replacing, Jason Kidd, Hollins says the challenge of leading the Nets to a championship is all he wants.

Kidd was given the green light to look for a new job after telling the Nets he wanted more control of the basketball operations. He has since signed with the Milwaukee Bucks to be their coach.

Hollins led Memphis to the Western Conference finals in 2012-13 but was fired by the club. He interviewed for several openings after that but wasn’t able to land a job.

In his time with Memphis, Hollins led the club to a franchise record 214 victories.
