Falcons cut 7th-round draft pick Yawin Smallwood

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have cut 12 players, including linebacker Yawin Smallwood, a seventh-round pick from Connecticut, and running back Josh Vaughan.

The cuts left the Falcons with 63 players. The team must make 10 more cuts by Saturday’s 4 p.m. deadline.

Among other players released were wide receiver Freddie Martino, who caught a 67-yard touchdown pass in Thursday night’s 24-14 preseason win at Jacksonville, and veteran linebacker Pat Angerer, a former starter with the Colts.

Also cut on Friday: Defensive end Nosa Eguae; fullback Maurice Hagens; cornerback Jordan Mabin; safety Kimario McFadden; tight end Jacob Pedersen; offensive linemen Pat McQuistan and Adam Replogle and defensive tackle Donte Rumph.
