Partisan Politics wins PG Johnson at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Partisan Politics took the lead in mid-stretch and finished with a 2 3/4-length victory in the $100,000 P.G. Johnson at Saratoga Race Course.

Narrowly beaten as the favorite in her debut last month, the 2-year-old daughter of More Than Ready ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.13 under meet-leading rider Javier Castellano on Wednesday, paying $11.20, $5.70 and $3.80.

The pacesetting Sunday Sonnet finished second, returning $6.60 and $4.40, and Ancient Goddess paid $3.10 to show in her North American debut. Rainha Da Bateria, Magnificent Margo, 3-1 favorite Flying Tipat and Slava completed the order of finish.

Trained by Chad Brown for owners William Lawrence and Klaravich Stables, Partisan Politics picked up $60,000 for the win to push her career earnings to $68,300 in two starts.
