LONDON (AP) — A British man has received a lifetime ban from sports for supplying steroids and his daughter, an amateur boxer, has been suspended for four years.
The UK Anti-Doping agency, which announced the sanctions Monday, says Philip Tinklin is the first person to be banned by the agency for life.
Tinklin was charged with three anti-doping rule violations following a police investigation in Wales, which led to a conviction for conspiring to supply anabolic steroids.
UKAD says his daughter, Sophie, is banned until February 2018.
The agency says all five of Tinklin’s children are involved in boxing and he falls within the definition of “athlete support personnel” in anti-doping rules.
UKAD chief executive Andy Parkinson called it a “significant illustration of the value of our ongoing collaboration with the law enforcement community.”
