Training Camp notebook: RGIII talks Shanahan, take 2

RICHMOND, Va. – After practice Tuesday, Robert Griffin III made an unannounced appearance at the podium to make a statement and did not take any questions.

“I just want everybody to know, if there’s any questions about if there’s a rift between me and Coach or if there’s a conflict, there is no conflict. Coach is Coach. I’m the player. Coach has a plan and I’m abiding by that plan. I’m doing everything the coaches are asking me to do. I trust those guys. They want me to have a long career and that’s what part of this plan is about.”

Griffin went on to say, “Yesterday, I voiced my opinion because I was asked about it. That’s been twisted and turned and tried to put against this team and that’s not what we want. Like I said, Coach is Coach. Kirk, Rex and Pat have done a great job all off-season with the team getting in and out of the huddle and making plays, and it’s an honor for me to be in the quarterback room with those guys.”

“That being said, I’m excited about tomorrow.”

Griffin is scheduled to begin 11-on-11 team work on Wednesday.

“I’m going to try and keep this very exciting for everybody so you guys can count the reps,” Shanahan said. “We got a plan for it, each week it will be a little bit different. Once I do share the plan with you if I do change it, all of a sudden the world comes tumbling down. I don’t need it on Sports Center every time he takes a rep.”

See, everyone is in a good mood here!

Come back tomorrow and we will have a full report on his first team work of this training camp. Or, at least something entertaining about what did or did not happen.
