Redskins Whip Texans 31-15

September 24, 2006 - 4:17pm
HOUSTON - Mark Brunell set an NFL accuracy record and Clinton Portis ran for two touchdowns as the Washington Redskins whipped the Texans 31-15 at Houston.

Brunell connected on 22 straight passes to break the mark of 21 set by Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb in November of 2002.

Brunell actually hit his first 22 passes before Travis Johnson batted down a pass late in the third quarter.

Portis scored his first touchdown of the day on a 30-yard run with one second left in the first half to give the Redskins a 21-to-7 lead.

Portis ran for 86 yards and two T-D's after missing last week's game with a shoulder injury.

Ladell Betts carried 16 times for 124 yards and a touchdown as the Redskins improved to 1-and-2.

David Carr threw for 208 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for the 0-and-3 Texans.
