Secret Service dogs are OK after encounter with White House intruder

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Secret Service says two dogs that were kicked and punched by a White House intruder yesterday have been taken to a vet and treated for minor bruising. Both dogs were cleared to return to duty.

Meanwhile, authorities are charging the suspect with felonies for allegedly assaulting the dogs and making threats.

Dominic Adesanya (ah-deh-SAHN’-yah) of Maryland is in custody for previous outstanding warrants. He was quickly apprehended on the White House North Lawn by uniformed Secret Service agents and their dogs after climbing over the fence last night.

Video of the incident recorded by TV news cameras shows a man in white shorts on the lawn just inside the fence. The man lifts his shirt as if to show that he is unarmed, then is seen kicking and punching the two Secret Service dogs.

The incident came about a month after a previous White House fence jumper carrying a knife sprinted across the same lawn, ran past armed uniformed agents and entered the mansion before he was taken into custody in the East Room.
