Neo-Nazi group banned in Germany’s Bavaria state

BERLIN (AP) — Authorities in the German state of Bavaria say they have banned a neo-Nazi group that operated in the region.

The state interior ministry said it banned the Free Network South group on Wednesday and accused it of pursuing the “anti-constitutional endeavors” of an organization that was banned a decade ago, the Franconian Action Front.

Officials searched a property in the small town of Regnitzlosau in northern Bavaria where, the ministry said, an outfit called Final Resistance Mail Order supported the group’s activities.

Bavarian authorities didn’t immediately give details on the size of the group and its activities.

Along with other state governments, Bavaria is seeking a ban on Germany’s biggest far-right party, the National Democratic Party. Germany’s highest court is considering the case.
