Health care subsidies to continue for now…Flights to Israel stop…Warning for Goodwill shoppers

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration says health care subsidies will keep flowing for now, despite a federal appeals court’s decision that could potentially derail subsidies for many low a middle-income people who’ve bought health insurance under the health care law. A three-judge panel in Washington has ruled 2-1 that the law, as written, only allows insurance subsidies in states that have set up their own exchanges. But another appeals court, in Virginia, reached the opposite conclusion today.

BERLIN (AP) — U.S. airlines are being told to stop flying to Israel, at least for now. The FAA says the ban on flights to the airport in Tel Aviv will last 24 hours. It follows the explosion of a Hamas rocket near the airport. Delta and United had already suspended flights. The largest airlines in Germany and France also say they’re suspending all flights to Tel Aviv over safety concerns amid the increasing violence.

UNDATED (AP) — McDonald’s says its profit slipped by 1.5 percent in the second quarter as sales in the U.S. continued to flag. Coca-Cola is reporting quarterly sales that fell short of Wall Street estimates. It’s blaming a recent decline in diet sodas for flat sales volume in North America. Coca-Cola says globally, sales volume rose 3 percent.

NEW YORK (AP) — A warning for shoppers at Goodwill stores. The nonprofit organization Goodwill Industries Inc. says it’s working with federal officials to investigate a possible security breach. It says payment card numbers may have been stolen from some U.S. stores. Goodwill operates more than 2,900 stores and takes in annual retail sales of $3.79 billion. The breach could be limited because Goodwill has no centralized database of all of its customers.
