HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The major-party congressional candidates in Maryland’s 6th District favor different approaches to containing Ebola in the United States.

Democratic Rep. John Delaney said Wednesday in Hagerstown that he’s against an immediate ban on U.S. flights to and from stricken West African nations. Delaney says he’s not totally opposed to a travel ban but favors as a first step the increased screening of passengers at airports that has already begun.

His Republican opponent Dan Bongino has written in his campaign blog in favor of an immediate, temporary travel ban from Ebola-stricken countries.

Bongino says the Obama administration has failed to take a common-sense approach to the Ebola threat.
