WASHINGTON - Does this sound familiar to you? The ball dropped. The clock struck midnight. You wanted to call your friends and loved one to wish them a Happy New Year only to discover that you couldn't.
You weren't the only one.
Verizon Wireless says it received lots of complaints about service problems during the first few hours of 2008.
Verizon spokesperson John Johnson says it was a software problem made worse in the D.C. area because of high call volume.
It took until 4 a.m. Jan. 1 fix the glitch.
