WASHINGTON - Panda pregnancy update: Mei Xiang's latest ultrasound shows no evidence the giant panda is with cub, WTOP has learned.

Two weeks ago the head of the National Zoo said if Mei Xiang is pregnant, the zoo would know within two-to-three weeks.

But Mei Xiang's hormones continue to rise, and her appetite is decreasing. Those could be signs of a pregnancy or they could be signs of a false or pseudopregnancy pregnancy.

By this time in her pregnancy with Tian Tian, Mei Xiang was already shredding bamboo to build a nest. So far, that hasn't happened.
