Matchbox and new Robert Wiedmaier restaurant among those headed to One Loudoun

Looks like Bryan Voltaggio isn’t the only D.C.-area restaurateur ready to break into Loudoun County. The Matchbox group of restaurants and Chef Robert Wiedmaier — of Marcel’s, Brasserie Beck and Mussel Bar — are also heading to the One Loudoun development in Ashburn, according to the developer, Miller & Smith, Inc.

Those two restaurants will join Voltaggio’s Family Meal — expected to open this summer or fall — as well as an Uncle Julio’s Mexican restaurant and a concept called Redskins Grille, an NFL-themed restaurant from an Ohio-based restaurant group that owns several other NFL-themed locations, from the Houston Texans Grille in Houston to the Jerome Bettis Grille in Pittsburgh.

After Family Meal, Uncle Julio’s expects to be the next to open in Jan. 2015. The 10,000-square-foot restaurant will be the Mexican chain’s sixth location in the D.C. area.

The rest of the aforementioned restaurants expect to open around the same time, in the spring or summer of 2015. The Robert Wiedmaier restaurant will be a new concept from the chef, an Italian restaurant that will total about 6,500 square feet.

Matchbox will open in the summer of 2015 in a 7,500-square-foot space on Thorndike Street in the mixed-use development, making it the seventh location of that concept and the first in Loudoun County. The 8,500-square-foot Redskins Grille is expected to open around the same time at the corner of Thorndike and Exchange streets.
