In this photo by Mukhtar Khan, police spray colored water at Kashmir government employees who are protesting for better job conditions in Srinagar, the main city in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir. The protesters are demanding more pay and a regular status for contract workers. Protests are common in Indian Kashmir, where many residents oppose Indian rule, and police have often used colored water to identify protesters and deter them by ruining their clothes.
